Maneki terms of use: what the app is, AI-generated character replies, subscriptions and minute packs, and acceptable use.
Not professional advice
The cat's replies are generated by AI in real time. They can be wrong or unnatural.
AI-generated character
A small trial allowance is included; after that, choose a monthly plan or minute packs that never expire.
Subscriptions
Monthly auto-renewing subscriptions include conversation minutes. Cancel any time in your App Store settings.
What Maneki is
Maneki is a conversation app. You speak Japanese with a lucky cat — a maneki-neko who came to life. It is made for practice and enjoyment — it is not a course, a certification, or a substitute for a teacher.
The replies are generated
The cat's replies are produced by an AI model in real time. They can be wrong, oddly phrased, or unnatural. Do not rely on them as authoritative Japanese.
Subscriptions and minute packs
Maneki is free to download and includes a small trial allowance. Beyond that, conversation time is sold in two ways:
- Monthly subscriptions — Maneki Daily (20 minutes per month, US$9.99), Maneki Plus (40 minutes, US$19.99), and Maneki Studio (100 minutes, US$49.99). Each renews automatically every month.
- Minute packs — one-time purchases of 5, 10, 20, or 45 minutes. Packs do not expire and do not renew.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account settings after purchase. Prices are in US dollars and may differ by region.
Unused subscription minutes do not carry into the next month. Minutes from packs are kept until you use them.
Acceptable use
Do not use Maneki to harass anyone, to generate unlawful content, or to try to make the character act outside its role. The cat is instructed to decline requests to become a translator, tutor, or assistant, and to stay in conversation.
Availability
Conversation depends on a third-party AI service and on your network. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.
