The home tab shows fewer than 30 spots, or the list looks stale.
The catalog is refreshed by a weekly batch (Monday 03:00 KST) from Tourism OpenAPI (data.go.kr). If the batch hasn't finished, the previous week's list is shown. New languages (English / 中文 / 日本語) are populated in staggered runs across the same Monday; the home tab falls back to Korean titles for spots that have not yet been translated.

The crowd-by-hour chart looks empty or flat.
Region-level visitor statistics come from the DataLabService big-data feed (data.go.kr) big-data feed, which is published with about a month of delay. If the most recent month is empty, HiddenGem automatically falls back to the most recent available window. Per-hour and per-weekday breakdowns are estimates derived from the regional baseline plus per-spot capacity; they are guidance, not measurements.

Map pins don't appear, or KakaoMap won't load.
Make sure HiddenGem has location permission: iOS Settings → HiddenGem → Location → While Using the App. If KakaoMap shows a blank tile, the SDK may be waiting for authentication — close and reopen the app once.

AR camera doesn't recognize the landmark.
AR works for the curated top 50 spots with image-anchor metadata. Stand at the position described in the on-screen hint (the angle and distance matter), and make sure lighting is sufficient. Some landmarks change appearance seasonally; if recognition fails, the screen falls back to a static guide.

I can't sign in with Kakao / Google.
Make sure you have an internet connection on first sign-in. Kakao Login opens the KakaoTalk app if installed, otherwise it falls back to a web flow. Google Sign-In opens an in-app browser. If the provider returns an error, sign in with another provider; your account will be created against whichever provider authenticates first.

How do I change the app language?
Open Settings inside the app → Language → choose Korean, English, Simplified Chinese, or Japanese. The change is applied immediately.

How do I delete my account and data?
Open Settings → Delete account. We will soft-delete your account row immediately, remove your uploaded community photos, revoke your third-party provider token where supported (Google and Kakao), and permanently delete the record within 30 days. If you only want to stop notifications, you can toggle them per-favorite or in iOS Settings → Notifications → HiddenGem.

I uploaded a photo and it was rejected.
Uploads pass automatic profanity and image-size moderation. Posts can also be auto-hidden after three user reports. If you believe your post was hidden in error, email us with the post timestamp and we'll review.

Can I use HiddenGem outside Korea?
Catalog and visitor-statistics data are provided by Korea's Tourism OpenAPI (data.go.kr) and are limited to spots in Korea. The app interface is multilingual; map and AR features work anywhere you can reach Korean spots.
